Bendigo Passenger Guide

Please take a few minutes to read this Melbourne Passenger Guide to help explain how it all works on the day of your flight. So you are coming on a balloon flight with us. What an experience we have in store for you!

  • Flight Date

    Bookings & Ticket Validity


    Please check all details of the flight date and phone numbers are correct on your booking correspondence. It is important that you call us on 1800 HOT AIR (1800 468 247) or +61 3 9427 0088 if changes are required.


    Bookings are available 7 days of the week. If you have not had a date allocated to your voucher please contact our office to check availability.


    Your ticket is valid for use for 12 months from date of purchase. (Any Gift Vouchers purchased on or after 1st November 2019 are valid for a period of 3 years.)


    Please book your flight to take place prior to the last month of your ticket’s validity, as ballooning is weather dependent, and may take a few attempts to get your flight, and weekends will likely not be available to tickets booked beyond their initial 12 month validity.

  • Call Our Office

    Reconfirm Your Flight Details


    If your flight is booked on a Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, please contact us between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm the Friday before your scheduled flight.


    Please call our office on 1800 HOT AIR (1800 468 247) or +61 3 9427 0088 between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon the day before your flight to confirm all details. We strongly recommend that you provide us with a back up telephone number for the morning. It is your responsibility to ensure the telephone numbers provided are current and in working order.


    When you call to confirm your flight, we will provide you with a meeting time and departure time. On the morning of your flight, please be at the lower lobby of Grand Hyatt, 42-44 Russell Street, at the pre-arranged time.


    In the event of a flight cancellation, you will receive a text message notifying you. Otherwise, it’s all systems go!

  • Cancellation Conditions

    If you wish to cancel


    or change your flight date, we require a minimum of three (3) full business days’ to replace you on a flight. Larger groups of 4 or more passengers require five (5) full business days notice to cancel. A business day does not include weekends or public holidays. Passengers failing to turn up for their flight are considered “No Shows” and will not be rebooked or refunded.

    We meet our passengers and depart as a group from Lake Weeroona Barbecue Pavilion Car Park (Opposite Quality Hotel Lakeside) 292 Napier St, Bendigo 

    (See Map).


    Call Paul on 0423 509 588 only if you are lost or running late.

  • Parking

    Parking is available at our meeting point at Lake Weeroona Barbecue Pavilion Car Park.

  • Meeting Time

    You Must Be On Time


    We meet 1 hour prior to sunrise; these times will be confirmed prior to the flight. 

  • Champagne Breakfast

    Served in the dining room at Quality Hotel Lakeside


    Last minute bookings for passengers to join us for a celebratory champagne breakfast are welcome on the day at an for $40.00pp.


    Family and friends are very welcome to join us for breakfast after the flight for $45.00pp. 

  • What Clothes Should I Wear?

    Don’t over dress


    Ballooning is an audience participation activity so you need to dress appropriately for the morning, keep in mind we are out and about in parkland areas that may be a little wet underfoot. You are no colder once you are in the balloon than you are on the ground as the balloon travels with the wind. We recommend you bring a hat along as the burners generate a little radiant heat. Minimise baggage, the fewer items that you take on board the flight the more room you have to move in the balloon basket, bags may be left in the mini bus during your flight. High heel shoes are inappropriate and light coloured clothes are not recommended.


    No Food or Drink to be taken on our bus.

    This is a strictly non-smoking experience, as enforced by Aviation Law.

  • Can I Bring Photographic Equipment?

    Absolutely


    Ballooning provides photographers with a fabulous opportunity to snap away as the balloon basket is completely stable during the flight, be sure to charge the batteries.

  • Bendigo’s Weather

    Safety and Comfort are number 1 priority


    BalloonMan Bendigo require certain weather conditions to ensure great views and we will never compromise your safety. Each morning we study Bendigo’s prevailing weather conditions, using this information we then flight plan for an hour’s flight time and determine our launch site for take off. The duration of the flight and the flight path vary daily according to the weather and wind conditions, our flights usually last about an hour. No flight path or duration can be guaranteed. Your balloon flight may be cancelled due to inclement weather conditions; you then have the opportunity to re-book another day
